What are some similarities or comparisons between religion and surfing?

What are some similarities or comparisons between religion and surfing?

like, water is used for baptism and surfing. Surfboard = Cross

any other examples|||rough seas,=trials and tribulations...... bailing = stumbling in your Christian walk......|||Trying to keep a rightous walk can be up and down like waves|||Surfers are usually stupid and so are religious fanatics

sorry. SURF'S UP DUDE.

I SAID I BELIEVE IT AND THA SETTLES IT AMEN|||You need to stay focused and pick yourself back up when you fall down. And you need to trust that what you're standing on (or putting all your hope and trust in) will support you.|||For a great analysis of surfing and its spiritual implications read the article in Volume 3 of Drift magazine.

How can I prevent rash on my thighs during surfing?

I get a rash after about an hour of surfing, either from my thighs rubbing each other, or from my suit. Tried switching suits - no avail. Please help as I can only surf for about an hour before the rash sets in, and that salt water starts stinging!|||Several things you can try: use paraffin instead of regular surf wax and wear a longer leg very soft swim suit with a Speedo underneath. I found one at K-Mart for $10 that is made out of almost the same material as rash guards. Also, use Vaseline intensive care before you surf and treat your legs with diaper rash when you get out.|||Get a good wetsuit this time... psycho 2 or mutant etc.

|||Yeah, vaseline...its like sex wax for your legs!! heheeh.. You may have to reapply after about an hour in the water - but at least you wont have to quit!!|||i wear underarmor under my suit|||What i do to prevent it is wearing a jammer under neath my suit, the jammer is very light so it is still comfortable...a jammer can probably be bought at any swimming store and it's kind of like a long speedo down to about your knees|||2 solutions: 1. wear rash gaurd shorts beneath the suit. They are rare but you can find them. If you can't find them in surf shops, you can get the spandex shorts that people do aerobics in. 2. Vaseline your thighs before you get into the suit.|||yahh , put some Vaseline on your thighs, then is goes on your deck and that is a slippery trick. get a longer pair of trunks, maybe?

peace

What is the difference between a drysuit/wetsuit/fullsuit/sprin鈥?for surfing?

I want to buy my girlfriend a surfing suit. I do not know what the difference is between all these types of suits. Please help.|||Drysuit keeps you totally dry, but bulky.

Fullsuits run from 6mm/5mm down to 3mm/2mm, which one depends on how cold your local water is

springsuits are like fullsuits without legs or arms. Partial wetsuits

If your water is 70 or less go fullsuit

Can I still get my belly button pierced if i go surfing every other day?

I really want to get my belly button pierced but I heard that I cant go in the ocean for at least 4 months. I go surfing every other day but would that be a problem or cause it to get infected?|||going in the ocean and surfing are two different things. when i moved to maui, i'd had my nipples pierced for maybe 10 yrs. when i started surfing, omg. let's just say it wasn't pleasant.

so, no. it's definitely not a good idea.|||No, you need to make a choice, give up surfing for a couple of months or don't get pierced. The oceans are fairly dirty and contain quite a bit of bacteria. Add to that the trauma from surfing (laying on the board, wiping out, etc etc), it all spells bad news for a fresh piercing. You don't need to wait 4 months, just 2 but you NEED to give it those 2 months.|||I have always been told that salt water cleans out wounds thats why fish heal so well, and I've always been told by the dentist to flush out my mouth with salt water to PREVENT infection when a tooth got pulled also, long as your surfing in clear blue clean salt water your all good, that water is also suppose to be good for getting rid of body acni|||Well your not supposed to for a while but they have patches to put over it but be sure to clean it alot after.but be very very very very careful not to wipe out and almost rip it out or to get much in it for sure and give it a while to heal not 4 months but maybe 1.|||salt water is good for it, but ocean water does have bacteria in it so after you surf just give it a soft cleaning|||i wouldnt suggest that you get one if you are in the ocean everyother day (or a pool with chlorine in it). there is a high chance it will get infected.|||well idk ive never had a piercing so im not sure but i do know that if it gets infected by the bacteria in the ocean water it will hurt!!! a lot!!!auchhh

hope you make the right decision...

What are some reasons people travel to Australia besides swimming and surfing?

What are some reasons people travel to Australia besides swimming and surfing?|||Besides our great beaches, people travel to australia for:

- Ayers rock and the aussie outback

- The rainforests

- Nature and rich array of wildlife

- Fishing

- Skiing and winter sports in the mountains (although it doesn't snow around most of australia, it does snow in many mountain areas in winter!)

- Great climate/weather

- Food and wine

- Spas and health retreats

- Shopping/culture in the big cities

- Tourist attractions such as: Sydney opera house and sydney harbor bridge, museums and art galleries, Gold Coast theme parks, parliament house, and many more!

Australia has much to offer that doesn't include our beaches... although i would recommend you check out a few while your over here because they really are beautiful!|||The weather, it's awesome all year round. Climate hardly changes if you compare it with other parts of the world.|||wildlife- great barrier reef|||To see the different landscapes throughout this great land.

The wildlife. We have more wildflowers here than anywhere else in the world. The weather for sure. Our friendliness of course.|||To meet awesome people like me! Seriously to see what the other side of the world is like and to see our strange wildlife.|||The outback, red dirt|||Because good ol' me lives here of course!

But seriously, KayKay above has hit it on the button.

This is the greatest place on earth, and I have the privilege of living here and I love it.|||The outback!

What is needed to teach surfing in Hawaii?

I work for a magazine company, and we want to be sure all our advertisers who teach surfing are properly certified. What are the requirements/certifications needed?

I know they need to be trained in CPR, right?

Thanks!|||education, experience, and evaluation

along with probably...

A current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification

Current CPR/First Aid Certification for the Professional Rescuer

Have Passed Certification course

At least four years personal surfing experience

Be 18 years of age

Pass knowledge base/skill test

Present Surf Camp with recorded log book of acceptable instruction time

Present Surf Camp with proof of all current certifications|||Melissa is right. The certification course she mentions is the Hawaiian certification course. Hawaii is the only state that requires a state certification. Most any surf school in Hawaii can tell you how to get certified but it is very hard and they keep the number of certified instructors way down. Except on the North Shore, there aren't a lot of certified instructors who don't teach for a licensed surf school in Hawaii.

In many US coastline cities, and some state parks, you now need to be NSSIA or Surfing USA certified to obtain a license or to get insurance.

Unfortunately, many cities don't require any certification at all and there are a huge number of people teaching that don't have proper training and shouldn't be allowed to teach. The NSSIA is the most formal certification in the US plus is accepted and used by many school districts for their coaching certification. NSSIA is also recognized by the IRS as the official non-profit surf school industry organization.

What exactly is downloading on my computer while I'm surfing?

I have satellite internet and I have exceeded my usage this month so I have to watch my download content. For the past couple days we haven't downloaded anything but my usage is not going down. Can anybody tell me if just surfing the internet is using my download usage? I have shut off the automatic updates on my windows and virus protector to help eliminate any download usage. We use facebook and the neopets site daily-is that downloading?|||Nope it is not. I do not know much about satellite connections but if you have a password i would change sounds like someone is using your account|||Rockhead does not know what he is talking about.

Anyway, anything you see do, pics, videos, downloading songs, files, email, etc. uses download bandwidth. If you log on to google, you have downloaded something, if you watch a youtube video, you download the video. You also use Upload bandwidth, but it is much less in amount.

You turned off automatic updates, which is good, since it takes up massive bandwidth. But you must make sure that you download the updates occasionally. I would suggest that you do that during you free usage time, which is usually during the late hours of the night.

Who is your satellite provider? Hughes, wildblue, starband, skyway?
