Does surfing the Internet affect the download speed of torrents?

I am downloading music (royalty-free) from torrent sites and I was wondering if surfing the net causes it to slow down. I know about seeds and leechers and stuff, they don't change. My internet connection is stable as well.|||Royalty-free, sure! ;-)





Unless you're watching some HD streaming, the bandwidth used to surf is pretty small. A page like this one probably "weighs" about 30KB, which is downloaded only once. A torrent will used as much of your bandwidth as is left, but for instance I can download over 1MB/s. So that's more than 30 times as much data as this page EVERY second.
