What can i do to prepare for surfing?

I am moving to san diego, and really want to get into surfing, cuz i snowboard so what should i do to get in shape for this sport?|||The best thing to do is swim.

If you have a surfboard, take it to your local body of water and paddle, paddle, and more paddle.

You spend more time paddling in the water than anything else.|||u need go work ur abs so u look good

then u should get a cool looking surfboard, $500+

practice

and listen to the pro|||Surfing is soooo much fun, OMG don' get me started. To get in shape for surfing you really need to work on your upper body in order to paddle out and get up on the board and what not. You also need to be a pretty good swimmer and learn to balance, which if you snowboard that shouldn't be much of a problem. I hope you give it a try! Surfing is the best thing since well I don't know what but its amazing so have fun!|||The 3 most important things you can do are 1) realize that for awhile youre gonna be a kook, but everyone is in the beginning. 2)Dont let your pride, spoil your ride.Slater had to start on ankle biters too, get wet and have fun.3) Get a used board, and get it from someone that knows what the hell they are talking about(your body size play THE factor),try a longboard,a hybrid, NO SHORTBOARDS,NO FISHES!!!!|||Brah take it from an experienced surfer....nothing. Stretch well and hit the waves. Dont think too much, everything you need to know, you'll learn in the water either on your own or from people you will meet in the lineup. Trust me.|||Do not buy an expensive board unless you know you like it. WOrk your arms because paddling is a huge part of surfing. Once you get ok it is the BEST sport EVER!!!!|||take a shower and expect white sharks lol|||well your arms are gonna be usper tired from paddeling the first several times until you get used to it. If you have access to a pool tho doing laps with the freestyle stroke would kinda prep you for it since it's pretty much the same motion with your arms

oh and take a lesson or 2 and start on a long board :D|||R8derMike nailed it.

Local body of water, paddle. People'll look at you like you are crazy. Get used to it.|||Hah you aren't moving to San Diego

give me best answer|||Simple.Surf as much as possible. It's the only way to progress your surfing!
